The Baltimore Police Department in Maryland is taking a new approach to police training, due to past cases involving the serious injuries and deaths of people in police custody.

The police department has recently been requiring officers to complete a program that has a video, which shows officers the science by examining the correlation of the relationships between thoughts, feelings, and actions.

The embattled police force has been struggling since the 2015 death of Freddie Gray from spinal injuries related being in police custody.

The department's supervisors, along with other police departments in the nation are deciding to do this program.

There are other initiatives that police department's nationwide are taking to address mental health challenges and negative public comment.

Now, the Program is overseen by the anti-violence organization Roca, which primarily works with youth in the nations poorest and most violent neighborhoods.
